OpenAI is an AI research and deployment company dedicated to ensuring artificial intelligence benefits all of humanity. The company has invested heavily in safety and abuse prevention efforts, including detecting and blocking malicious attempts to use AI systems for scams, phishing, fraud, and other harms. OpenAI also publicly shares relevant lessons learned to strengthen collective defense systems and fulfill its commitment to transparent and responsible deployment.

"AI-driven fraud is escalating rapidly, demanding coordinated action from the tech community, policymakers, and law enforcement. OpenAI’s efforts to detect and block the malicious use of AI systems align closely with our mission. Their decision to join GASA as a founding member underscores that protecting consumers in the AI era requires shared intelligence, collective responsibility, and unified purpose," said Jori Abraham, Executive Director of GASA.

Will McCants, Head of Intelligence and Investigations at OpenAI, stated: "Fraud has emerged as one of the fastest-growing threats in the digital landscape, and our tools are increasingly adept at identifying such risks. That’s why OpenAI has chosen to join the Global Anti-Scam Alliance— a platform where we can share insights, strengthen collective defenses, and safeguard the public. This work is deeply aligned with our mission to build AI tools that benefit humanity."

As a founding member of GASA, OpenAI will participate in global research initiatives, the Global Advisory Council, and cross-sector collaboration to collectively reduce the impact of AI-driven fraud. This partnership reinforces collective efforts to build a safer digital ecosystem, ensuring innovation advances with robust safeguards, accountability mechanisms, and intelligence sharing.
