CAS Deep Blue Huize Secures Strategic Investment from International Capital, Preparing GWh-Level Capacity for Solid-State Battery Mass Production

CAS Deep Blue Huize, a pioneer in the industrialization of solid-state batteries, has expanded its lineup of investors.

Recently, Aramco Ventures officially completed a Pre-A round of strategic investment in CAS Deep Blue Huize.

Since its angel round in 2022, CAS Deep Blue Huize has completed two rounds of financing. Leading domestic and foreign institutions such as Shunwei Capital, Spring Capital, and Temasek have successively injected capital, while existing shareholders including Fengyuan Co., Ltd. and Spring Capital have continued to increase their investment.

The graual expansion of its investor lineup and the firm support from existing shareholders not only serve as an important signal for the industry to observe the feasibility of its technical route but also reflect the screening logic of the capital market for high-quality targets in the solid-state battery track.


Progressive Financing in Stages, Continuous Betting by Global Capital

From the perspective of financing rhythm and the composition of participants, the capital recognition of CAS Deep Blue Huize has shown a phased improvement.

In August 2022, shortly after its establishment, CAS Deep Blue Huize completed its angel round of financing, with three institutions—Shunwei Capital, Spring Capital, and Fengyuan Co., Ltd.—taking the lead in investing.

Although the specific amount was not disclosed, judging from the background of the participants: Shunwei Capital’s investment experience in the technology field, Spring Capital’s industrial resource integration capabilities, and Fengyuan Co., Ltd.’s industrial accumulation in the lithium battery material sector provided basic support for the company’s early team building, core technology R&D, and patent layout. The financing at this stage was more focused on the early verification of the technical direction.

As technology R&D progressed steadily, CAS Deep Blue Huize completed a Pre-A round of financing worth "hundreds of millions of RMB".

The investor lineup was significantly upgraded: internationally renowned investment institution Temasek, along with domestic institutions such as Sinopec Capital, Guoxin Innovation Investment, Wujin High-Tech Investment, and Yuhua Capital, participated jointly. Meanwhile, angel round shareholders Spring Capital and Fengyuan Co., Ltd. chose to continue increasing their investment.

Temasek’s lead investment indicated that its technical route had gained recognition from international capital for its commercial potential. The participation of industrial capitals such as Sinopec Capital laid the groundwork for the integration of subsequent technologies with energy scenarios. This round of financing also marked the company’s key transition from "technology R&D" to "product transformation".

In June 2025, the entry of Aramco Ventures became the biggest highlight.

As an investment platform under Saudi Aramco focusing on operational decarbonization, low-carbon clean fuels, and digital transformation, Aramco Ventures and its subsidiary Prosperity 7 Fund’s focus on disruptive technologies not only brought international resource support to CAS Deep Blue Huize but also reflected the competitiveness of China’s solid-state battery technology in the global new energy industry chain from the side. It will also create conditions for the company’s subsequent overseas market expansion and international cooperation.


Not Chasing Trends, A Hybrid Route to Solve Industry Pain Points

The core reason for gaining continuous investment from global capital lies in CAS Deep Blue Huize’s differentiated breakthroughs in solid-state battery technology.

Facing the common industry challenges in the current solid-state battery track—"polymer routes have low ion transport efficiency and require high-temperature operation; inorganic oxide and sulfide routes suffer from high interface impedance and high mechanical brittleness"—CAS Deep Blue Huize adheres to independent innovation instead of following the trend blindly. It adopts a technical route of "hybrid system + structural innovation" to achieve comprehensive and excellent product performance.

Dr. Dou Xi, General Manager of CAS Deep Blue Huize, explained the technical logic at the 2025 High-Tech Lithium Battery Industry Summit: "The core value of solid-state batteries is to significantly improve the safety of liquid batteries while ensuring excellent electrochemical performance in various aspects."

For the traditional polyethylene oxide (PEO) solid electrolyte material system, its voltage tolerance is poor (only 3.7V), making it difficult to achieve high energy density; its ionic conductivity at room temperature is low, requiring a high operating temperature (60-80˚C).

To address these pain points, CAS Deep Blue Huize has taken a two-pronged approach in solid electrolyte materials: Starting from the solid electrolyte material itself, through molecular structure innovation, it has designed new molecules capable of withstanding a wider voltage window, with a maximum operating voltage of 5.2V. To solve the problem of high operating temperature of polymer solid electrolytes, through material system innovation, it has synthesized a new electrolyte system with a wide operating temperature range, reducing the minimum operating temperature of the battery to -30˚C and breaking the limitation of "needing heating to operate".

At the same time, to solve another major industry pain point of "high interface impedance" and "weak mechanical properties", CAS Deep Blue Huize innovatively introduced a "rigid framework + in-situ polymerization" design: The rigid framework provides mechanical support for the battery, preventing battery failure caused by the soft polymer electrolyte being unable to withstand pressure at operating temperatures. Polymer precursors are closely embedded in the porous structure of the positive and negative electrodes, and form a flexible electrolyte through in-situ thermal polymerization, thereby improving solid-solid interface contact and reducing interface impedance.


Multi-Scenario Product Implementation, Capacity Driving Industrialization Sprint

With capital injection and technological maturity, the industrialization process of CAS Deep Blue Huize has entered a substantive stage.

Currently, the GWh-level solid-state battery production line located in Wujin High-Tech Zone, Changzhou has completed equipment installation and is in the equipment commissioning stage, with production scheduled to start by the end of 2025.

In terms of product capabilities, its HP series 35Ah and 65Ah solid-state battery products have an energy density of 310-340Wh/kg, with continuous 3C fast charging and 6C high-rate discharge performance. The instantaneous maximum discharge rate can reach 10C, and the cycle life exceeds 1,000 times.

In particular, in terms of safety, in strict accordance with the EASA and FAA aviation power battery safety requirements, both the cell and module levels have passed thermal runaway propagation tests. When a single cell triggers thermal runaway, adjacent cells are not affected;
In the scenario where 20% of the cells in the module experience thermal runaway, no thermal runaway propagation is achieved. This provides an efficient and safe aviation battery solution for airworthiness certification of large-load low-altitude aircraft, and also offers higher safety guarantees for application scenarios such as new energy vehicles and low-altitude aircraft.

Previously, the solid-state battery technology of CAS Deep Blue Huize achieved a world record by providing continuous power supply for 26 days at full ocean depth in the Mariana Trench deep-sea exploration equipment, and completed a megawatt-level deep-sea energy storage base demonstration project in 2022.

This series of achievements has laid a solid foundation for the commercial implementation of application scenarios such as manned low-altitude aircraft, power vehicles, electric ships, and household and community energy storage.

From an industry perspective, the exploration of CAS Deep Blue Huize reflects the transformation of the solid-state battery track from "route exploration" to "practical implementation".

With the GWh-level production line about to start production, the subsequent dynamics of CAS Deep Blue Huize, such as capacity and market feedback, will become an important indicator for observing the industrialization process of solid-state batteries.
