Opening a New Chapter for 6G: Huawei Launches U6GHz Product Portfolio to Enhance 5G-A Capabilities, Covering Macro, Small Cells and Microwave

2026-03-02

During Mobile World Congress 2026 (MWC26) held in Barcelona, Spain, Huawei officially launched a full-scenario U6GHz (6425–7125MHz) product and solution portfolio.

According to Huawei, these products are designed to fully enhance the performance of 5G-Advanced (5G-A) networks through technological innovation and support a smooth evolution toward future 6G networks, providing foundational network support for the high capacity, premium experience and low latency required by mobile AI applications.

Huawei noted that AI applications are experiencing rapid growth. An IDC report showed that in the past year, the monthly active users of global AI applications exceeded 1 billion, AI phones accounted for more than half of newly shipped devices, the annual growth rate of new terminals such as AI glasses surpassed 50%, and AI-related token consumption increased hundreds of times within a year. This growth brings opportunities to the mobile industry while raising higher requirements for network capabilities. AI multimodal interaction has driven uplink data demand to increase by 3–5 times; real-time decision-making relies on low-latency and deterministic network assurance; and ubiquitous intelligent applications demand more secure and reliable wide-area connectivity.

5G-A has gradually become the mainstream commercial technology for global operators and a focus for business innovation and future evolution. With its large bandwidth and favorable coverage characteristics, the U6GHz band is emerging as a critical band for 5G-A evolution and commercialization.

In terms of spectrum, since WRC-23 (World Radiocommunication Conference 2023), U6GHz has been established as a key global mobile communication band. China, the UAE, Brazil and multiple European countries are actively promoting the identification, allocation and testing of this band. On the industry chain side, mainstream CPE devices and smartphones supporting U6GHz are expected to launch successively in 2026, paving the way for large-scale commercial use of the band.

Huawei stated that the newly launched full-scenario U6GHz product portfolio covers macro base stations, small cells and microwave transmission equipment. It aims to fully leverage the ultra-large bandwidth advantages of U6GHz to meet the core demands of AI applications for high capacity, low latency and premium experience, delivering a systematic solution for enhancing 5G-A network performance and smooth evolution toward 6G.

To address outdoor coverage and capacity requirements, Huawei launched a series of Active Antenna Unit (AAU) products. Among them, the U6GHz 256-channel antenna system (256TRx AAU) achieves coverage comparable to C-band through ultra-massive antenna array design and hybrid digital-analog intelligent beamforming algorithms. Combined with super-resolution multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) technology and 400MHz ultra-large bandwidth, the device supports downlink capacity exceeding 100Gbps and uplink capacity over 10Gbps, as well as peak user-experience rates of 10Gbps downlink and 1Gbps uplink, handling connection pressure from massive AI terminals and applications. Huawei will also introduce U6GHz AAU products with flexible combinations of channels and arrays to meet network performance and deployment needs in different scenarios, helping operators deploy 5G-A networks at scale on the U6GHz band.

To fulfill the high-concurrency and large-capacity demands of indoor AI applications, Huawei launched U6GHz small cell products. The solution supports the 400MHz ultra-large bandwidth of U6GHz and realizes integration and coordination across the full U6GHz and Sub‑6GHz bands. Its minimalist design and easy deployment help operators efficiently deliver consistent user experience across indoor and outdoor scenarios.

On the transmission side, Huawei launched new microwave products to meet the high-bandwidth transmission needs of U6GHz base stations. Adopting an industry-unique full-duplex technology, the products will significantly improve the bandwidth and capacity of the bearer network, satisfying not only peak traffic demands of current 5G-A networks but also laying a solid foundation for future 6G evolution.

Huawei confirmed that its full U6GHz product portfolio is ready for commercial deployment. It can address the capacity challenges facing today’s 5G-A networks and support smooth evolution toward next-generation networks, opening a new chapter for 6G.
