2025-10-21

At the 2025 World VR Industry Conference held in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, the "Bright Vision Without Borders" VR Care Program for Amblyopia Children—supported by Qualcomm through the Qualcomm® Wireless Reach™ initiative—was officially launched at the conference's "AI+VR" Integration and Innovation Theme Forum. Guests including Xia Quan, Global Vice President of Qualcomm, Guan Yongwei, Deputy Director of the Disaster Relief and Development Department of the Red Cross Society of China Foundation, He Ling, Deputy General Manager of China Mobile Communications Group Jiangxi Co., Ltd., and Luo Junsong, Secretary of the Party Committee of Jiangxi Provincial Children's Hospital, jointly attended the project launch ceremony.

Amblyopia is a neurodevelopmental visual disorder, usually caused by insufficient retinal stimulation in early childhood. Without timely treatment, it may lead to long-term visual impairment. Addressing the pain points of traditional amblyopia treatment—such as low compliance and long treatment cycles—and the rehabilitation needs of amblyopic children, the "Bright Vision Without Borders" project will apply the technological innovation achievement of Jiangxi Mobile: the VR Children's Amblyopia Rehabilitation System. Using VR headsets powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR platform, the project converts single visual training into vivid and interesting game interactions through VR dual-screen separate rendering technology. It adjusts binocular training with precision, providing a new digital rehabilitation solution for amblyopic children. The first phase of the project will run from October 2025 to June 2027, during which rehabilitation treatment and follow-up visits will be provided to 400 children in Jiangxi Province in batches.

Xia Quan, Global Vice President of Qualcomm, said, "The Wireless Reach initiative is committed to leveraging advanced technologies to play a positive role in areas such as innovation and entrepreneurship, medical services, public safety, educational experiences, and environmental protection. Currently, the initiative has benefited more than 27 million people worldwide. In China, Wireless Reach has supported public welfare projects in multiple fields, and 'Bright Vision Without Borders' is another new technology-for-good project promoted by the initiative in China. We hope to use technological innovation and cooperation to work with partners including the Red Cross Society of China Foundation, Jiangxi Mobile, and Jiangxi Provincial Children's Hospital to help more amblyopic children improve their eyesight and quality of life."

Guan Yongwei, Deputy Director of the Disaster Relief and Development Department of the Red Cross Society of China Foundation, said, "Public welfare should not stop at donations; instead, it should use innovative technologies to unlock new possibilities for equitable medical care. The 'Bright Vision Without Borders' VR Care Program for Amblyopia Children has built an innovative rehabilitation training solution.     It allows children to naturally and easily complete the training and rehabilitation of visual perception and binocular coordination abilities through rich and diverse interesting training, improving compliance and opening up a new path for digital therapy. This is a pioneering practice of integration and innovation in the 'VR+Medical' field."
