Xiong Jijun, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), emphasized at the 2025 China Computing Power Conference held on August 23 that MIIT will guide the construction of computing power facilities in an orderly manner and effectively improve the quality of computing power resource supply.
MIIT will promote the improvement of the policy system for computing power layout, optimize the deployment of computing power infrastructure, guide local governments to rationally arrange intelligent computing power facilities, and continue to advance the construction of national green data centers.
It will strengthen the dominant position of enterprises in innovation and promote the in-depth integration of scientific and technological innovation with industrial innovation. Efforts will be made to accelerate breakthroughs in key core technologies such as GPU chips and expand the supply of basic and generic technologies.
At the main forum of the 2025 China Computing Power Conference, the "Computing Power Interconnection Access Ceremony" between the National Supercomputing Internet and seven-city computing power centers was successfully held.
With the official access of seven computing power centers, including the National Supercomputing Taiyuan Center, Qingdao "Sea Heart" Artificial Intelligence Computing Center, Changsha Artificial Intelligence Innovation Center, and Wanda Kai Advanced Computing Center, the number of backbone node-type computing power centers connected to the National Supercomputing Internet has exceeded 30, and the number of consortium members has surpassed the 200 mark.
At the 2025 China Computing Power Conference, Xiong Jijun, Vice Minister of MIIT, stated that as of the end of June this year, the number of standard racks in China’s in-use computing power centers had reached 10.85 million, the scale of intelligent computing power had hit 788 EFLOPS, the number of 400G ports on trunk lines had increased significantly to 14,060, the total storage capacity had exceeded 1,680 EB, and the average Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of national computing power centers had dropped to 1.42.
In the next step, MIIT will guide the construction of computing power facilities in an orderly manner and effectively improve the quality of computing power resource supply. It will promote the improvement of the policy system for computing power layout, optimize the deployment of computing power infrastructure, guide local governments to rationally arrange intelligent computing power facilities, and continue to advance the construction of national green data centers.
At the 2025 China Computing Power Conference, the China Computing Power Platform (Shanxi) was officially launched. On the same day, the China Computing Power Platform was officially connected nationwide, covering 10 provinces and municipalities in the first batch, including Shanxi, Liaoning, Zhejiang, Shandong, Qinghai, Henan, and Shanghai.
