On December 19, Seyond announced a design win partnership with SAIC Volkswagen. Under the collaboration plan, new SAIC Volkswagen vehicle models will be equipped with Seyond’s Sparrow E1X LiDAR, with such models scheduled to enter mass production and launch in 2026.
This partnership holds profound industry significance. Following design wins with multiple state-owned automotive brands, it marks Seyond’s successful entry into the mass production business track of leading joint-venture carmakers, achieving a diversified upgrade of its customer structure. The advanced nature of its technological roadmap and the leading advantages of its commercialization capabilities have been fully demonstrated.
As a leading enterprise in China’s automotive joint-venture sector, SAIC Volkswagen has demonstrated strong market competitiveness and remarkable results in new energy transformation. Data shows that in 2024, SAIC Volkswagen achieved cumulative sales of 1.2 million vehicles, among which sales of new energy models exceeded 143,000 units, representing a year-on-year growth of 12%. The decision to partner with Seyond is a comprehensive recognition of Seyond’s product reliability, performance and cost control capabilities, and more importantly, a high alignment of the strategic directions of both parties in the new energy and intelligent mobility race. SAIC Volkswagen clearly stated that it will fully focus on the three major markets of fuel vehicles, pure electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles in the future. It expects to take the lead in launching 10 new models (including 7 new energy models) by the end of 2026, and roll out over 20 all-new models cumulatively by 2030, continuously strengthening its market layout.
The core product to be installed under this partnership—the Sparrow E1X LiDAR—is a core competitive product of Seyond for the passenger vehicle sector. Having passed the comprehensive verification of SAIC Volkswagen’s stringent quality system, this product not only proves Seyond’s comprehensive advantages in performance, mass production stability and cost control, but also marks the success of Seyond’s dual-line strategy of "positioning the 1550nm technology for high-end markets and leveraging 905nm/940nm technologies for mainstream segments". It has realized the efficient conversion of technological advantages into market share, laying a solid foundation for its global business expansion.
The in-depth cooperation with SAIC Volkswagen is a crucial leap in Seyond’s commercialization process and will also inject strong confidence into the capital market. With solid technological accumulation, fully verified mass production capabilities and a clear business strategy, Seyond will continue to create long-term value for investors in the future, while empowering various industries to achieve intelligent perception upgrades.
